Dino Run DX launched on September 29, 2015 as a expanded remake of the original browser game. The developer shipped updates through 2016 and 2017 — most notably a major customization and soundtrack update on August 11, 2016, and a large hat update on August 28, 2017. These were the last substantive content additions to Dino Run DX itself. On January 12, 2023, Pixeljam posted an important update explaining that Dino Run DX's multiplayer had permanently shut down due to third-party server infrastructure being retired. The developer open-sourced the game's code and acknowledged they can no longer compile the legacy Flash-based game. This effectively confirmed that Dino Run DX is now in a maintenance-complete state — the developer cannot actively update it even if they wanted to. All developer activity since 2023 has been focused entirely on the sequel, Dino Run 2, which launched a Kickstarter campaign in September 2025 and is targeting a Steam Early Access release in 2026. The single released DLC (the OST & Supporter Pack, released August 11, 2016) has shipped, and no further DLC is listed or announced for Dino Run DX. Dino Run DX is a complete, finished game. The sequel is a separate product and does not affect the content status of this title.
