Square Enix supported it with a steady stream of cosmetic DLC — character appearance sets and weapons — through early 2020, alongside a handful of gameplay patches addressing matchmaking and ranking systems. The last DLC releases were on March 4, 2020 (appearance sets and weapons for the Emperor and Cloud of Darkness), and the last developer communication of any kind was a feature patch on January 22, 2020. All 149 DLC items listed on the store are marked as released, with nothing unreleased remaining. Square Enix has made no announcements of future content, new characters, or additional updates since early 2020. The game has been purchasable and playable since launch but has received no new content or official communication in over six years (since March 4, 2020). This extended silence, combined with the complete DLC catalog, indicates development concluded with the March 2020 DLC batch.

Over twenty-four of FINAL FANTASY's most recognisable faces have assembled to take part in interdimensional fisticuffs. Face off against other teams in action-packed, three-on-three melees that require sense as well as strength to win. Each combatant can be one of four types: vanguard, assassin, marksman, or specialist; play off your allies' fighting styles, master the bravery system, and emerge triumphant from the clash of steel and sorcery!
In addition to standard battles, there will be skirmishes that employ special rulesets, along with cutscenes that tell the story of this reborn world, the gods that rule it, and the warriors who fight for it.
