DISTRAINT: Deluxe Edition

DISTRAINT: Deluxe Edition is a completed single-developer 2D psychological horror adventure game. It originally launched on October 21, 2015, and received its Deluxe Edition upgrade — adding dynamic coloring, enhanced graphics, refined audio, and other improvements — on September 29, 2017. That upgrade represents the game's final major content milestone. Since then, the developer (Jesse Makkonen) has remained active but focused on entirely separate projects: DISTRAINT 2 (released November 2018), Heal, Afterdream (released September 28, 2023), and most recently Without a Dawn (released May 19, 2025). A 2024 maintenance patch addressed a launch error and updated font support for broader language compatibility, but introduced no new gameplay content. On July 22, 2025, the developer posted a message asking players whether they'd like to see a DISTRAINT 3, noting that his recent releases haven't sold as well as hoped and that the timing might be right if demand exists. This is exploratory interest-gauging for a potential future sequel — a separate game entirely — not a commitment to add content to DISTRAINT: Deluxe Edition. The existing game itself has no announced additions, no unreleased DLC, and no ongoing content cycle. It launched and was enhanced as a self-contained narrative experience, and that remains the case.
