Evaluation

Don't Sleep With The Fishes launched on Steam on June 26, 2026. The developer (Taiki / DopplerGhost) shipped a feature update on July 25, 2026 (Version 1.1.4) delivering new night events, gameplay additions, and balance changes — fulfilling the content roadmap outlined in the July 4 announcement post. On August 15, 2026, the developer posted a milestone update celebrating 50,000 copies sold and released a small patch (v1.1.4.4) with bug fixes and balance tweaks. In that same post, the developer was candid about the game's future: updates will slow down due to personal life priorities and a full-time job, but the developer stated they "feel satisfied with the amount of content the game currently offers for its price" and that the game is "expected to receive only one or two larger updates in the future, as my time allows," with new endings specifically called out as a likely focus if those updates happen. The developer has not announced these updates as a firm commitment with a timeline, but has clearly communicated intent to deliver additional content when possible. The game is complete and satisfying as it stands, with future updates framed as a bonus rather than a requirement.

About this game

'Don't Sleep With The Fishes' is a point-and-click survival horror game focused on rapid salvaging, resource management, and surviving day by day at sea featuring:

  • Randomized scavenging and events.

  • 3 Different shipmates to take with you and talk to.

  • A cozy and creepy atmosphere that alternates between day and night. (This game contains Jumpscares!)

How To Play:

You’re the captain of a ship on a covert delivery mission with a small crew. Without warning, something strikes the vessel, causing severe damage. You wait for the emergency horns. When they sound, you know you need to evacuate immediately.

Time is running out! Gather whatever you can and toss it into your lifeboat, before the ship sinks. Every item counts! Escape by staying near the boat at the end! However, it can only carry one more person besides you.

Use the daytime to spend your energy on fishing, eating, doing small tasks, or chatting to your shipmate (if you brought one). When you run out of energy, end the day and try to sleep hoping nothing disrupts your rest.

If your night does get interrupted, use an item you brought to handle the situation. If you have no answer, you can try going back to sleep. Sometimes, that’s your only option.

Your adventure could end in many ways. In some, you will survive. In most, you won't.
