Evaluation

Doomer entered Steam Early Access on June 17, 2023 under a new developer team (WinDARities/Doomers Team) and publisher (Conglomerate 5), who acquired the rights to the original project in September 2023. The team published a multi-phase roadmap in November 2023 outlining a path to full release, covering content additions, new mechanics, world interactions, and a final polishing phase targeted for 2025. The game has received two major content updates since the new team took over: Content Update №1 on September 23, 2024 (adding new locations, items, character abilities, and hidden activities) and Update №2 on March 18, 2025 (adding a day progression and save system, dynamic lighting, new animals, TV programs, and more). This establishes a cadence of roughly one major update every 5–6 months. At the time of Update №2 on March 18, 2025, the developer explicitly stated they were "hard at work on the next update." That is the last official communication from the developer. As of August 11, 2026, more than 16 months have passed with no updates, no news posts, and no explanation for the silence. The game remains in Early Access with significant content still promised — a complete gameplay loop, multiple endings, quests, and additional world interactions — none of which have been delivered. The roadmap's 2025 full-release milestone has passed without any 1.0 launch announcement. This extended silence, combined with undelivered commitments, raises genuine uncertainty about whether development is continuing.

About this game

Step into the melancholic world of a Russian doomer, living in the bleak confines of a typical post-Soviet Khrushchev. Your life is a cycle of addictions, mundane work, and endless introspection, set against the backdrop of a provincial town that time forgot.

Experience the raw and gritty, yet very nostalgic atmosphere. Wander aimlessly around your neighborhood, through garages, explore the empty playgrounds, or sit and smoke by the flower bed where the cigarette butts pile up. When the weight of the outside world becomes too much, retreat to your small apartment. Inspect the mementos of your past, surf the internet, pet your faithful rat, or lose yourself in the old TV shows and commercials that echo the sentiment of your soul.

In this game, you’re not chasing grand adventures. Instead, you’ll explore the quiet, unassuming corners of your life—smoking a cigarette, taking a stroll through the desolate yards, or simply embracing the sweet apathy of it all. This is your nostalgic playground, some actions lead to unexpected consequences, all you have to do is experiment.

Embrace the carelessness, and navigate the grey days of a life that’s as familiar as it is empty.
