Evaluation

DrainSim entered Early Access on March 3, 2026 and has been developed at a rapid pace since launch. In approximately five months, CodePeas has shipped 7 major content updates, 8 feature patches, and 6 bug-fix patches — a high output for a solo/small indie studio. Major additions since launch include: new gameplay systems like the digging and dirt-placement mechanic (June 3, 2026), two new levels — Downtown Station (April 23, 2026) and Construction Site (June 3, 2026) — monthly leaderboards with a trophy shelf (May 1, 2026), a Generator MK2, vehicle shop, and numerous polish and performance improvements. The most recent major update, the Level Editor (Alpha), shipped on August 13, 2026 (today), adding Steam Workshop support so players can create and share custom levels. The developer noted within that post that the Level Editor is still in early development and that "more content will be added in future updates." The game is explicitly in Early Access and has not announced a 1.0 release date. The developer's launch post on March 3, 2026 stated they are "excited to keep improving it," and the consistent stream of updates since then — with the latest arriving today — confirms active, ongoing development.
