Evaluation

Draw is a free-to-play 2D sidescroller/visual novel that launched on October 6, 2023 as a complete, self-contained story experience. The store description presents it as a finished narrative product with clearly defined scope: 1–2 hours of gameplay, 600+ lines of dialogue, 30 puzzles, and an original 9-track soundtrack. After launch, the developer shipped several rounds of post-launch improvements: a bug-fix patch in October 2023, an update in November 2023 adding Chinese localization, new achievements, and the OST release, followed by further localization updates in March 2024 (German, French, Spanish, Traditional Chinese) and May 2024 (Polish and Japanese). Notably, the developer described the May 2024 update as "the final localization update," signaling the conclusion of their post-launch improvement work. The only DLC — the game's original soundtrack — was released on November 10, 2023 and is the sole listed DLC item, with no unreleased DLC on the store. No additional content, expansions, or future updates have been announced. The developer has not communicated any plans for further content since May 2024. Given the game's compact, story-driven design and the developer's own characterization of the May 2024 patch as their final update of that type, the game appears to be content-complete.

About this game

Welcome to the doodle world! Armed with nothing but a pencil, play as Stickman as you explore a brand-new world. Solve intricate puzzles by drawing into the game, meet new friends while dodging scribble monsters, and make memories that’ll never be erased!

Draw is a 2D sidescroller–an artistic story-rich journey of grief and acceptance through the doodles of Nathan, a high schooler dealing with the grief of a recently lost friend.

As “Stickman,” you will navigate a lined-paper world of fun puzzles and doodle monsters. You’ll encounter different characters representing unique individuals in Nathan’s life who play a vital role in his journey of self-sabotage, isolation, depression, acceptance, and recovery.

In creating Draw, we set out to tell a meaningful and impactful story through simple artistic means, drawing heavily from the art style of iconic stick-figure fighting Flash games popular in the late 2000s. Taking inspiration from indie devs in the past who have tackled heavy and emotional topics with maturity and thoughtfulness despite their limited creative and programming resources, we hope to pay tribute to them in our own way through Draw.

This game contains mature themes/topics that may be upsetting to some viewers.
