Dreadhunter entered Early Access on October 18, 2023 and has been steadily developed ever since. Today — September 21, 2026 — the developer released Act IV, completing the full planned story. The news post explicitly states: "the full story is finally finished as intended and is already playable in the game." The game has grown substantially through four major content acts: Act I at Early Access launch, Act II on May 6, 2024 (doubling story content), Act III on February 19, 2025 (adding 50% more game time and a visual overhaul), and Act IV today. Between these major releases, the developer maintained a consistent cadence of feature updates introducing new abilities, enemy types, skill tree expansions, and gameplay systems. The developer notes that it took three years to reach this point — longer than originally planned — and describes the completed story as "finished as intended." The game's price has also been reduced alongside this release. However, the Steam Early Access flag remains active, meaning the developer has not yet declared a 1.0 launch. Until the developer explicitly graduates the game to a full release, the game is still in Early Access. The story content is now complete, but whether additional content, polish, or a formal 1.0 launch is still planned remains to be communicated.
