Evaluation
Dredgers launched on October 23, 2019 and has been updated by its solo developer (Pirate-Rob) over the years since. Looking at the major content releases: Version 40 (First Boss, November 22, 2019), Version 42 (Item Rewrite, May 29, 2020), Version 43 (Necro and Undead Update, July 31, 2020), Version 45 (Crafting UI Overhaul, October 1, 2021), Version 47 (Crafting Prefixes and Balance, January 19, 2022), and Version 48 (Mechanist, July 13, 2024). That gives us six major content updates across roughly five years, with gaps between them ranging from a couple of months to approximately 2.5 years.
The developer has been transparent throughout about the irregular cadence — in October 2021 they explained that personal circumstances and work on other projects caused delays, but expressed long-term commitment: "I really hope to turn Dredgers into one of the best rogue-likes available, so I hope you stay around for it, even if it takes months or years." When Version 48 arrived in July 2024 after the longest gap to date (~2.5 years), the developer noted it was the product of accumulated work and expressed genuine enthusiasm for returning to the game.
The last developer communication of any kind was the sale announcement on July 16, 2024. As of today, October 8, 2026, that means there has been no developer communication for approximately 27 months. The established cadence between major releases has ranged widely, with the longest prior gap being roughly 2.5 years (from January 2022 to July 2024). The current silence of about 27 months is approaching — but has not yet clearly exceeded — that historical maximum interval. However, applying the cadence analysis: with no specific future content announced and no sustained predictable pattern (gaps of 2, 2, 14, 3.5, and 30 months respectively), and silence now approaching 27 months with no communication of any kind, the game has moved outside the window that would support an active development content warning.
The developer has not announced any upcoming content, roadmap, or new features following Version 48. They also have not stated that development is complete. With no unreleased DLC on the store, no explicit completion statement, and a silence period now approaching the outer bound of the historical release gap, the evidence no longer supports the active development content warning — but equally there is no definitive completion signal. The game is best assessed as complete for now, with the understanding that this developer has returned after long silences before.
Evidence
Version 48 (Mechanist) released — a major update introducing a new class, limb system rework, and a large collection of gameplay changes accumulated over roughly 2.5 years. No future content announced.
Version 48 beta announcement; developer notes returning after ~2.5 years and mentions a new boss was not included in this patch but does not commit to a timeline for it.

About this game

Welcome to the world of dredgers. Dredgers are the men and monsters who all desire the gold and power lying in the dungeons beneath the earth. As a dredger you'll be exploring dungeons, looking for gold, potions, scrolls, food and more to further your endless descent into the depths.
As you slay enemies in your way, you'll earn experience which affords you higher stats, new classes and new skills. Deflect enemy projectiles as a fencer or call down devastating beams of light as a priest. Maybe you prefer leaving the grunt work to your followers as a summoner or lich? Or perhaps you prefer having excellent equipment instead, taking the blacksmith and artificer classes.
Even better, why not be all of the above? Dredgers places very little restrictions on classes, allowing you to combine them to your heart's content.

As of release, Dredgers has the following features:
- 30 races to play and unlock.
- 40+ classes to skill into, with a myriad of possible builds.
- Endless dungeon with 4 themed zones, and 3 challenging sub-zones.
- 253 items and equipment, ranging from torches and food to powerful staves, enchanted swords and more.
- Majority of equipment and items can be crafted using specialized class skills and materials found throughout the dungeon.
