Evaluation
DriveWave launched as a free-to-play game on October 23, 2025, and has received a steady stream of updates ever since. Two major content releases are recorded in the news history: v1.2.1 on November 14, 2025 (the Skydeck rooftop environment and a full background music system), and v2.0 on September 15, 2026 — a release the developer describes as "essentially a remake." v2.0 added full multiplayer with lobby and friends-list support, an endless procedural road with three driving modes (Chill, Touge, Gridlock), rally stages across 13 biomes, drag racing, police chases playable solo or with up to 8 players, 76 new cars, a livery editor, 70 new rims, 30 spoilers, weather and night cycles, real-world road generation, and a fully rebuilt driving model. The changelog for this single update, in the developer's own words, is "longer than the game's entire changelog before it."
Beyond these two major releases, the developer shipped multiple feature patches between November 2025 and August 2026, covering physics overhauls, Steam Inventory integration for tradable wheel drops, a per-car upgrade system, macOS support, a full save system rewrite, and fullscreen support. The most recent communication before v2.0 was on August 2, 2026; v2.0 itself arrived on September 15, 2026 — just three days before today's assessment.
The only DLC is the Supporter Pack released at launch (which unlocks all cars and remains the sole paid item). All other content has been delivered as free updates. The developer has not announced the end of development or any specific future content by name, but the scale and recency of v2.0 — delivered just days ago — makes clear that development is very much active. The developer has given no indication of winding down.
Evidence
v2.0 shipped with full multiplayer, endless procedural road, rally stages, drag racing, police chases, 76 new cars, livery editor, 70 new rims, 30 spoilers, weather/night systems, real-world road generation, and a rebuilt driving model — described by the developer as 'essentially a remake'
v1.5.222 overhauled the entire driving physics model (suspension, wheelspin, drifting), rewrote the save layer, and fixed economy; developer explicitly confirms multiplayer is in active development
