Ducks Can Drive

Ducks Can Drive is a free-to-play casual racing game that launched on July 4, 2023 and received a burst of active development in its first two months. The developer (Joey) shipped several major updates rapidly after launch: v2.00 on July 11, 2023 (overhauled driving system), v3.00 on August 5, 2023 (new network system, ranked mode, 3 new maps), and v4.00 on August 31, 2023 (cosmetic system, the Penguins Can Too DLC). Multiple feature patches filled the gaps between these milestones. The v4.00 post on August 31, 2023 was the last developer communication of any kind. That post described a cosmetic infrastructure "now finished" with promises of more cosmetics in v4.01 and beyond — polar bear and parrot characters, new car models, and seasonal tracks were mentioned as being planned or "in the making." However, none of these follow-up updates ever shipped, and no developer posts have appeared since August 31, 2023 — nearly three years ago. The pattern here is one of very active early development that stopped abruptly. The v4.00 post did contain forward-looking language, but given the complete silence since that date (through June 2026), those plans were never realized. The game's two DLC packs are both fully released, there are no unreleased DLC entries on the store, and no roadmap or commitment to future content has been reaffirmed at any point after August 31, 2023. The development activity is consistent with a solo indie developer who built and shipped the game to a satisfying state and moved on. The game is considered complete as it stands, with August 31, 2023 representing the date of the final shipped content update.
