On March 29, 2026, the developer (Silver Machine Studios) posted a farewell message explaining that Dungeon Escape VR has not received adequate attention for several years and that this situation is not expected to change. As a result, the developer transitioned the game to free-to-play alongside their other titles (Temple of Aluxes and Spacescape), and explicitly thanked players for their support over the years — framing it as a closing note on their early game development journey. This is a clear statement that no further development or content updates are planned. The game originally launched on April 7, 2017 and received several patches and feature updates through mid-2018, but activity tapered off significantly after that, with only a 2019 survey post before going quiet for years.
