Dungeon Tavern launched into Early Access on October 27, 2023, and graduated to its full 1.0 release on October 27, 2025, after two years of development. At 1.0, the developer confirmed that all core story content was complete — including game endings, full voice acting, a new save/load system, and all originally roadmapped content. They described any post-launch additions as "extra bonuses" rather than anything the game needs to feel finished. On February 9, 2026, the developer shipped the v1.1 "Big Redd Update," adding the guest character Redd Ryder, new animated CGs, new sandbox pairings, and a revised Celeste scene. That update also acknowledged ongoing work on voicing hangout scenes and laying groundwork for localization. Most significantly, the developer has consistently and explicitly outlined plans for a major future expansion: a "Celeste POV" campaign that would let players experience the main story from Celeste's perspective. The developer described this as a "2.0"-level release — comparable in scope to a major paid expansion — and has stated it will arrive after a period spent on other projects, including a major overhaul of their earlier game Spooky Starlets. This intent was first communicated before 1.0 launched (in the September 2025 pre-launch update notes), reaffirmed in the October 2025 launch post, and again in the February 2026 v1.1 update notes. No specific release date has been given, and the developer indicated it would likely be "a year or two" after the October 2025 launch — placing a rough target window of late 2026 to late 2027. As of today, October 8, 2026, the last developer communication was the February 9, 2026 v1.1 update. There has been approximately eight months of silence since that post. While the developer signaled that updates would be less frequent after 1.0, the stated Celeste POV plans remain undelivered and unretracted. No post has announced the completion or cancellation of this content. The developer's own framing — working on other projects first, then returning to Dungeon Tavern for a large expansion — is consistent with an extended quiet period, and the projected timeframe has not yet elapsed. The announced content plans remain credible and unresolved.
