E-Startup launched on April 26, 2018 and received a series of feature updates through 2018 and into 2019, culminating in the version 0.5.0 update released on May 25, 2019. The developer's final communication about the original game came on September 21, 2019, which noted they had taken a new job and were founding a company, and would be updating the game "very slowly." No further updates or communications about E-Startup have appeared after that date. The developer's energy has since shifted entirely to a sequel: on January 31, 2024, they announced E-Startup 2: Business Tycoon, inviting players to a playtest ahead of a June 21, 2024 release. The store page has been rebranded to "E-Startup: Legacy" — a naming convention that signals the original game has been superseded and is no longer in active development. No DLC, roadmap, or future content for the original game has ever been announced. The original game launched as a work-in-progress simulation title and reached a stable stopping point by late 2019, with the developer having moved on to a sequel project.
