Evaluation
Eclipse launched on October 7, 2021 and received a series of post-launch updates. The most notable was a content update on June 4, 2022 (patch 0.2.0), which added a new location, new enemies, a new quest, new weapons, and achievements. A minor bug fix patch followed on May 7, 2023 (patch 0.2.2), which is the last known update to the game itself.
Since May 2023, MadRock has shifted its focus to a sequel — Eclipse 2: Invasion of Darkness. A gameplay trailer was published on February 19, 2025, and a playable demo for the sequel launched on June 12, 2025. The June 2025 post notes that the full sequel is "two or three years" from release, indicating the studio's current development effort is directed entirely toward the new game.
The original Eclipse has one DLC — a soundtrack — which released on launch day and is the only DLC ever listed. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced roadmap for additional content, and no developer statements promising future updates to the base game. The patch 0.1.9 (March 2022) mentioned a non-functional elevator "in the future, there will be a descent to the location from the DLC," suggesting DLC was considered at one point, but no such DLC was ever announced or listed on the store, and the developer's subsequent communications have been entirely focused on the sequel. That early hint was never followed up on and is superseded by the studio's clear pivot to Eclipse 2.
The game appears to have shipped as a complete product with a modest post-launch update cycle that concluded by May 2023. The last update to the game was the bug fix patch on May 7, 2023.
Evidence
Demo for Eclipse 2 released on Steam; developer notes the full game is still 'two or three years' away, confirming all current development effort is on the sequel rather than the original game.
Content update 0.2.0 added a new location (Metro/Bunker), 5 new enemy types, a new quest, 3 new achievements, and new weapons — the most substantial post-launch content addition.

About this game

What if you were a god? Play for an ancient god in a new hack & slash adventure from an indie developer MadRock. Crush monsters, complete quests, find and destroy the source of evil. But what if it's not that simple?
Once upon a time gods sent you here. You’ve slept in a glass sarcophagus for hundrends of years. When people find themselves on the brink of extinction, you’ll have to wake up. Now, the time has come. Get up and save the medieval village from the monsters coming from the abandoned dungeons!
Eclipse is a mix of nostalgic hack & slash games and sci-fi projects. The dynamics of modern games and a well-developed plot with elements of a detective story complement classic control mechanics.
The future is here! Use the weapons of the future in a medieval setting. Find out how technology fell into the hands of the people of that time!
Your skills and abilities are at the forefront, not the item statistics or the quality of the armor. To complete the game, you have to not only wield your axe or sword, but also use your brains: the dungeons are full of mysteries, secret passages and magic items.
Complete quests, explore locations, or simply cut your way further down - in the end you’ll find a secret, which you’d prefer not to reveal.
