Elder Ring (《戒指里的老爷爷》) launched into Early Access on May 22, 2025. The store description notes that the English version is still under development, consistent with its Early Access status.
The development team — a small studio of roughly 3.5 people — has been actively and consistently building out the game since launch. The day after release, on May 23, 2025, the developer published a post-launch roadmap and made a direct commitment to players: "We will absolutely not let the players who support us pay for our shortcomings. We will fulfill our promises through actual updates and optimizations."
Since then, the game has received four major content updates, each unlocking new regions and gameplay systems:
- **v0.2.0** (May 31, 2025): New area "Cangmu Town Erta" tower challenge and story content
- **v0.3.0** (October 30, 2025): New region "Heize" with two large maps, new gameplay mechanic (alchemy), and new cultivation breakthrough tier
- **v0.4.0 / v0.4.2** (November 13–14, 2025): New compendium system, gameplay optimizations, and a developer status update reaffirming ongoing development and previewing the next region
- **v0.5.0** (March 31, 2026): New region "Chenxing" with two maps, new faction, three new dungeons, and additional equipment
The most recent developer communication was a feature patch on April 13, 2026, adding new character artwork and bug fixes. The developer has maintained a clear pattern of major content updates roughly every 2–5 months throughout Early Access, and has not signaled any intent to conclude development or move toward a 1.0 release.

In the game, you play as a "Former High-Level Cultivator," whose physical body is destroyed, cultivation level has plummeted, and is forced to reside within a ring as a "Spirit." You become a cooperative partner with the person who finds the ring, hoping to assist the "host" in rapid growth with your insights and experiences, in the anticipation that they will eventually help you break free from your constraints and regain your former glory. However, things don't seem as straightforward as expected.
As a ring without a physical body, you may possess extensive knowledge and skills, but the ultimate decisions and actions must be made by your "Master". You become a strong support for the master, providing guidance in cultivation and combat, helping them navigate various unexpected situations during their adventure, and utilizing your unique abilities to enhance their progress.
In the game, you will encounter various characters with diverse personalities, including the clever and cunning ones as well as the stubborn and dull ones. Not everyone is easy to deal with.
Will you choose to teach them according to their aptitude, patiently guide them, and gradually earn their trust? Or will you choose to remain passive and let them figure things out on their own? (Or perhaps you will press the fast-forward button on their lives...??)
