Eldritchvania launched on February 9, 2024, after five years of development by a two-person indie team. On launch day, the developers stated plainly: "After 5 long years of development, this passion project of ours is done!" This is a clear declaration that the game was released as a complete, finished product. Following launch, the developers issued several patches addressing bugs reported by players (February 12, February 13, March 4, April 20) and added quality-of-life improvements such as better jump controls and an accessibility option to disable flashing effects. On May 30, 2024, they explicitly reaffirmed the game's status: "While Eldritchvania is complete, your help is going a long way to maintaining it and ensuring it's in the best possible state going forward." There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced expansions, no roadmap for future content, and no post-launch update pattern beyond maintenance and polish patches. The last developer communication was on May 30, 2024. The game shipped as a finished product and has been confirmed complete by the developers themselves.

Eldritchvania follows the aged occultist, Dougald, as he desperately tries to track down his son, Fergus. All clues lead him to believe Fergus traveled to the small island of Blackhorn, just outside the coast of northern Scotland. Dougald is convinced he must save his son before he unearths the ungodly knowledge buried deep beneath the island. But will his quest force him to uncover the very same secrets? Unearthing the long since abandoned ruins of lost civilizations, your cunning, endurance and sanity will be duly tested. Are you up to the task?
