This listing is a free demo for Etched Memories, a full indie game being developed by a two-person team at From Scratch Studios. The demo released on February 22, 2021 and received several patches in its first few months. In June 2021, the developers announced they would stop updating the demo and focus entirely on building the full game.
The developers have communicated progress on the full game through several public updates. In June 2022, they shared a video showing new maps, movement controls, and combat systems in development. By August 2023, a detailed progress breakdown showed most core systems — enemies, weapons, map layout, and combat — at 80–90%+ completion, with audio and story still in earlier stages.
Most recently, in July 2024, the developers published a new trailer and launched a dedicated Steam store page (App ID 3127620) for the full version of Etched Memories, signaling the full release is actively approaching. Etched Memories is a first-person and third-person indie, horror, and cat simulation game. Switch perspectives at the click of a button, depending on your preference. This demo is intended to provide players a glimpse of what the full game will be like once development is complete.
A message from the devs: Etched Memories has an optional, semi-open world hiking feature where players can just enjoy nature and explore if they choose to do so. For players who prefer a straightforward, "linear" path, they may follow the clues provided to proceed through the main story more quickly. In the full version of the game, there will be special locations and easter eggs throughout the map that can be discovered from hiking around. However, please note that this demo will not have these features and the forest will not be as populated. We are a team of two people who will continue to work hard to provide you with a positive gaming experience.
