Ethereal Enigma is no longer available for purchase on Steam. PixelFade announced on January 19, 2026 that the studio is retiring and that all of their games would be removed from sale the following month — this has since taken effect, as the game currently has no purchase options available.
The game itself was completed well before the studio's retirement. It launched episodically, with Episode 2 arriving on October 17, 2019, Episode 4 on May 23, 2020, and the full final release on August 22, 2020 — which delivered Episode 5 along with all club events, upgraded artwork, and performance improvements. The August 2020 post explicitly described this as "the final chapter," marking the game's content as complete from that date forward.
PixelFade's retirement post was written warmly, with no indication of financial distress or an unresolved crisis — the studio described wrapping up on their own terms. Players who already purchased the game retain access through their Steam libraries.

About this game
Story
While returning home from his first day of high school, our Protagonist encounters a strange woman who encourages him to make a wish at the shrine. Although skeptical, he unwittingly summons Erilynn, a beautiful yet bold princess from another world! With no idea how she came here or how to send her back, the two must put aside their differences and work together to unravel the mystery.
Now, high school isn't the only thing on our protagonist's mind. He must keep Erilynn's identity a secret while searching for the elusive and mystifying old woman who started it all!
