EXIT 2 launched on December 7, 2021 and is listed on Steam as a free-to-play game with purchase options available. Between August 20, 2023 and December 29, 2023, the developer shipped a run of major updates adding new monsters, perks, and a map. On March 10, 2024, the developer announced the end of the game with a final update, citing engine problems that made continued support impractical. The developer later took the game off Steam. On August 10, 2026, it returned with a set of new changes and said this 'isn't a comeback' because their main focus is a new game. Eight days later, on August 18, 2026, a major update called The Makeover Update added a new map, a new monster, a redesigned interface, and lower in-game purchase prices. On October 8, 2026, a hotfix updated the controller layout and most keybindings. The developer's most recent work is therefore continued updating after the earlier end-of-game announcement.
