FACEMINER launched on February 27, 2025 as a narrative-driven incremental management game. Since launch, the developer (Wristwork) has been consistently active with a strong post-launch update track record. The game received a steady stream of feature patches and quality-of-life improvements in the months following launch, including cloud saves (March 17, 2025), achievements and Steam Deck support (April 11, 2025), and save modding tools (April 26, 2025). In July 2025, the developer shipped a notable optimization update and mentioned "more updates soon" for FACEMINER alongside a teaser about an unannounced project. On September 20, 2025, the developer explicitly stated: "Development on FACEMINER will continue; we have a couple of fun updates planned here." This is a direct developer commitment to ongoing content, made while announcing their new game (Pigeon: A Love Story). That promise was followed through: on December 5, 2025, FACEMINER hit version 2.0.0 with two major new gameplay modes — Endless Expanded (a new prestige-linked endless mode with 10+ unlocks) and a VR mode. A follow-up mini update (2.1.0) shipped on December 22, 2025.
