Farlands

Farlands

Released Jul 2026

Congratulations, you’ve bought your own planet! An agrarian rock at the edge of the galaxy that, for some reason, was practically being given away for free. So the time has come to leave your hectic, stressful life in an overcrowded metropolis for a more rural and rewarding life.

Evaluation

Farlands launched at version 1.0 on July 16, 2026, completing everything originally promised in the development roadmap after roughly two years in Early Access. The launch post described the game as content-complete at that point. However, the developer has since gone further. On September 23, 2026, JanduSoft published the version 1.1 update and explicitly detailed a slate of planned additions that go beyond the original scope: farm machines and processing (furnaces, refiners, and reworked resource systems), animal automation tools (auto feeders, auto cleaners, and collectors), two new romanceable characters, and a significantly expanded character customisation system with new species, facial features, and hairstyles. The post describes these as already in planning or early development, with the team committing to releasing them as each piece is ready. The developer also notes that the resource system rework will be substantial enough that it may warrant starting a new save to experience the full changes. Prior to this, the September 1, 2026 post had teased that "more content" was coming and described it as "big" — that tease was fulfilled by the September 23 update announcement, which gave the full picture. The side quest system (60 quests, with more to be added over time) shipped as part of 1.1 itself. The game is fully playable and complete in its original 1.0 form, but the developer has clearly committed to a meaningful second wave of content beyond what was originally planned.
Evidence
Version 1.1 ships the new side quest system and outlines planned post-1.0 additions: farm machines/processing, animal automation, two new romanceable characters, and a deeper character customisation system. Developer confirms these will be released as ready over the coming months.

About this game

Seeking a lifestyle change, you saw an offer you couldn’t refuse: an entire planet going for a bargain price! An old agrarian rock in an outlying solar system that’s been lying abandoned for years. So, with little more than your worn-out ship and your personal assistance droid, you decide to embark on a new phase of your life in a lost corner of the galaxy.

Restore your planet!

Cut weeds, clear paths, reclaim fields, and fix what the passage of time has destroyed. Turn an old agrarian rock into a thriving homestead.

Explore the solar system!

Although your ship has seen better days, it can still help you move between the different planets in the solar system, explore them, and collect resources to improve your farm, your tools, and your ship.

Be part of the community!

Make contact with the handful of people who still live on the solar system’s planets. Learn their stories and the reasons why they decided to stay in such a remote part of the galaxy.

Save the solar system and restore it to its former glory!

A whole planet at a bargain price? Perhaps there’s a reason for that... Maybe things won’t be as simple as they first seemed!
