Evaluation
Flashing Lights launched as version 1.0 on May 15, 2023 and has maintained a consistent and active development cadence ever since. Since launch, major free content updates have shipped regularly — including the Mission Editor (February 2024), AI Partners and AI Backup (mid-to-late 2024), the K9 Update (September 2025), the Bomb Squad Update (December 2025), a Spring 2026 NPC and world improvement update (May 2026), and most recently a Vehicle Customisation Update on August 17, 2026. Paid DLC has also shipped regularly, with the Department of Transportation DLC releasing on March 17, 2026 as the most recent addition.
In January 2026, the developer published a public roadmap outlining planned updates through Summer 2026. The Spring and Summer updates have now both shipped. However, the August 17, 2026 update notes explicitly state that the "light stages" feature — previously announced as part of the Summer 2026 update — has been delayed to "later this year," meaning additional content is still actively in development. The developer remains in regular communication with players and has shown no signs of winding down support.
Evidence
Vehicle Customisation Update launched, adding wheel types, pushbars, antennas, spotlight, ALPR, and window tint. The post also notes that the previously planned 'light stages' feature has been delayed to later in 2026, confirming further development is ongoing.
Spring 2026 Update shipped with NPC improvements, world updates, and new activities. Post confirmed the Summer 2026 vehicle customisation and light stages updates were next.

About this game
POLICE | FIRE | EMS
Either solo, or in up to 10 player online co-op, this immersive sim lets you enrol with the police, fire department or emergency medical services and take on missions unique to each service in an open world. Engage in desperate police car chases, put out lethal fires, and diagnose life-threatening injuries! Each department has its own roster of vehicles and equipment for you to operate while on duty.
Police
Become the police! Usually the first to respond to a criminal incident, the police are equipped with the fastest vehicle and a variety of life-saving equipment. Police roles vary from handing out parking tickets to chasing down dangerous suspects. Playing as police in Flashing Lights, you'll do everything you can to prevent criminal activity and put a stop to any crimes in progress.
Fire
Be the fire department! Battling raging flames and freeing trapped civilians involves some heavy-duty gear including spreaders, a fire hose, a fire extinguisher and a fire truck. But your role in the fire department extends far beyond this, as you work closely with medical services out in the field, swiftly cutting open crashed cars so that medical staff can reach the casualty.
EMS
Be an EMS! As an emergency medical specialist, your job lies in keeping members of the public alive, treating patients’ injuries, diagnosis and more. Lifesaving equipment you’ll utilize includes medical kits, stretchers and ambulances. Help the injured solo, or with friends.
MULTIPLAYER
