Floor 9

Floor 9

Released Sep 2024

Nine floors down to the exit of Hotel Liminal. Some are exactly as they should be. Some hide an anomaly. Everything depends on spotting the difference, and one mistake sends you back to the top.

Evaluation

Floor 9 launched on September 9, 2024 as a self-contained horror puzzle game. After a few launch-window patches in September 2024, development went quiet through most of 2025, with only a routine technical maintenance update on October 9, 2025 (a Unity security fix and performance improvements). On August 28, 2026, the developer returned with a substantial major update. It adds 10 new anomalies to the game's core pool, a leaderboard system, an anomaly archive for tracking discovery progress, sprint and stamina mechanics (a new movement system), 4 new achievements, and various quality-of-life and performance improvements. The developer's own framing — "it's been a while, but we're finally back" — acknowledges the long gap but confirms active work on the game. No specific future content has been announced and there is no roadmap or unreleased DLC listed. The update pattern is not regular enough to project a reliable next release window. However, this major update demonstrates that the developer has not abandoned the game and is still making meaningful additions to it over a year after launch. Anyone considering the game should know new content has just arrived.

About this game

Nine floors down. Pay attention.

Hotel Liminal gives you one corridor and two buttons. One says there is an anomaly. One says there is not. Only one of them takes you closer to the exit.

Look at everything

Step out of the elevator and walk the floor. The paintings, the doors, the signs, the lights, the carpet, the windows. Nothing announces itself. A door that was closed is open. A painting hangs an inch lower than it did yesterday. Or nothing has moved at all, and the only thing standing between you and the next floor is your own doubt.

Key Features

  • Nine floors, one way out. Every floor is a fresh judgement call, and every mistake costs you the entire descent.
  • Two buttons, no hints. No map, no marker, no going back. You either saw it or you did not.
  • A hotel built to be looked at closely. Warm lights, patterned carpet, paintings on every wall, all of it there to make you doubt yourself.
  • Sound doing half the work. Play it loud, play it in the dark, and see how far you get.
  • A focused run. Most players reach the exit in under an hour. This is a game you finish, not one you grind.

The exit is nine floors below you. Take your time.
