FoxTail is a classic quest inspired by the mid-90s games. Complex quests and freedom in solving them, an interesting plot, beautiful graphics and, of course, an atmosphere of mystery and adventure.

Evaluation
FoxTail is a chapter-based point-and-click adventure game in Early Access, working toward a complete release that will include Chapter Four and a reworked Chapter Zero. Three chapters are currently playable, and the game has been in active development since its Early Access launch in March 2018.
The most recent developer communication — a post on July 12, 2026 — gives an honest picture of where things stand. After spending several months working as hired artists on an unrelated remaster project (Defender of the Crown), the small team has returned to FoxTail but can only dedicate 1–2 days per week to it alongside freelance work taken to pay the bills. They have prepared a pitch deck and sent it to publishers in hopes of securing funding that would allow full-time development. As of July 12, 2026, most publishers had not yet responded, with only one rejection received so far.
Prior to that pause, the team was communicating regularly throughout 2025 via monthly devlogs. By the September–November 2025 devlog (posted December 3, 2025), they had finalized Chapter 3's scripts, added a new side quest to it, and completed roughly 30% of Chapter 4's animations — describing it as the most animation-rich chapter in the game. The April 2026 devlog confirmed they had resumed Chapter 4 work after finishing the Defender of the Crown contract.
Chapter Four remains unfinished and unshipped. The game's Early Access status is unchanged. Development is continuing, but at a reduced pace due to financial constraints, and the timeline to completion is unclear. The publisher search introduces additional uncertainty — a successful deal could accelerate development significantly, while continued rejections could slow it further.
Evidence
Developer confirms return to FoxTail work after finishing Defender of the Crown contract. Development is part-time (1–2 days/week) due to need for freelance income. A publisher pitch deck has been sent out; most responses still pending. Team is working on Chapter Four.
Team confirms return to FoxTail after nearly completing Defender of the Crown work. Chapter Four is actively being built, including animation updates and localization tooling. Additional announcements teased in upcoming devlogs.

About this game
FoxTail is a classic point-and-click quest. Drawing inspiration from the old pixel adventure games of the middle 90's, we create an atmospheric and spectacular world without using sophisticated modern technologies.
FoxTail is about a cute, young fox named Leah who goes on a journey to find a cure for her grandmother. Along her life changing trip she explores forests, swamps and caves, gets acquainted with various creatures and helps them in their needs.
She also reveals the secrets of her grandfather's mystical past...
Complex and variable tasks: the world of FoxTail triggers player’s imagination and gives an opportunity to solve problems in different, but equal in complexity ways.
A charming story: echoing the leisurely rhythm of the old school adventures, the story is still colorful and impressive, but never boring.
Characters and their stories: every character in the game has his own life, in which the player will have to take part, one way or another.
The main heroine, Leah the fox, is charismatic, funny and cunning, as any fox is supposed to be. She will have a long and difficult journey: through the labyrinths of mines, mountains, swamps and dangerous forest at night, defeating her own fears and helping those who meet her on the way.
All this is for the great positive goal that doesn’t allow her to retreat or surrender.
