Evaluation
Fran Bow launched on August 27, 2015 as a complete narrative adventure game. Over the years, Killmonday Games explored various follow-up ideas — including a Fran Bow DLC, a standalone "Keeper of the Key" game, a "Fran Bow 2," and an unrelated project called the "Benjamin Game" — but none of these were ever released for this title.
The most significant developer communication came on December 27, 2023, when co-founder Nati Martinsson published a candid year-end reflection explicitly stating that the studio had not been able to release or commit to any single project for four years, had canceled multiple games, and was laying off staff. She confirmed that the Fran Bow DLC, Fran Bow 2, and the Benjamin Game had all been shelved or put on ice. The studio restructured back to a two-person core team working with freelancers.
The most recent major update to the game itself was the April 28, 2023 port to Unity, which enabled the console release and brought controller support, manual save slots, remastered audio, new localizations, and additional animations. This is the last substantive content the game received.
On August 21, 2025, Killmonday celebrated their 10-year studio anniversary and teased a new game announcement — but this refers to a new, separate project, not additional content for Fran Bow.
Both DLC items on the store are released soundtracks (original and remastered). There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content for Fran Bow specifically, and the developer's own communications confirm that all planned Fran Bow expansions were ultimately abandoned. The game is complete.
