Freeland entered Steam Early Access on September 19, 2024, and has been in continuous, active development ever since. The developer reports delivering over 100 updates since launch, with at least 6 major content milestones documented on Steam between July 2025 and August 2026 alone. The most recent major update, released on August 15, 2026 (just two days before today's assessment), opened a fully realized 101-floor Castle dungeon — described as the biggest update yet. Prior to that, castle floors were being added in stages: 10 floors in July 11, 2026, and 20 floors by July 18, 2026, showing rapid, sustained delivery. In a developer status post on May 17, 2026, the studio confirmed it has been consistently building the game with its community since launch, that Freeland has "evolved massively," and that it is now preparing to market the game more publicly given its improved state. The team also noted it would start posting patch notes to Steam more consistently going forward. A July 2025 update introduced a Freeland Pass (Season Pass), AI Quests, and reworked avatars, and explicitly tied future planet releases to subscriber milestones — signaling that ongoing content expansion remains a core part of the game's design. The developer has also repeatedly stated its roadmap includes more planets, quests, races, professions, and multiplayer systems. Weekly community events are hosted at 10 PM GMT daily, and the game continues to receive regular feature additions and bug fixes. There is no indication that development is slowing or concluding — the opposite is true.
