Freeways launched on February 6, 2018 as a puzzle game with 160 levels. On January 27, 2025, the developer shipped a major update adding an entirely new 80-level map, toll booths, an undo feature, and a best-score save system — effectively a substantial expansion of the game's content. Following that update, the developer issued two bug fix patches in late January and early February 2025, and an achievements fix in April 2025, all addressing issues introduced by or related to the big update. No future content has been announced, no unreleased DLC is listed on the store, and the developer has not communicated any plans for additional updates beyond maintenance. The game's store description describes it as a complete package with a defined level count (now grown to 240 levels across two maps). The January 27, 2025 major update appears to represent the conclusion of content development, with subsequent patches being purely corrective.
