Frigore

Frigore is a free-to-play solo-developed survival horror game that launched on March 12, 2022. The game received several updates through early 2023, working toward a promised remaster with expanded features. However, on January 7, 2025, the developer posted a candid personal update explaining that following the original release, they were diagnosed with testicular cancer. After recovering, they returned to release version 3.0 — described explicitly as a "final update" to the game, restoring what they could from an old PC. The developer stated this was not the full open-world vision they had originally promised, but that they wanted to leave the game in a better state than it was. They expressed that their future creative energy would go into new projects, not continued Frigore development. This was reinforced on August 27, 2025, when the developer announced a brand-new game called Liminal Urbanism, explicitly framing it as the project where everything learned from Frigore would be applied. The store description also currently notes the game has been "updated to version 3.0" and still mentions that "more updates are on the way," but this language predates or contradicts the developer's January 2025 statement closing out development — the developer's direct statement takes precedence. Taking the developer's own words at face value: version 3.0 was intended as the final update, and the developer has since moved on to a new title. The game is complete as of January 7, 2025.
