Gearshifters

Gearshifters launched on October 1, 2021 and received a healthy series of post-launch updates from the solo developer, Richard at Red Phantom Games. These included several feature patches adding new game modes, controller mapping, usability options, and balance improvements. On July 19, 2023, the developer explicitly stated in a news post that Version 1.0.2.7 would be "the last major update for the foreseeable future" because he was working on a new game and Gearshifters had been out for nearly two years. He committed only to fixing serious bugs going forward. Following that announcement, one further minor feature patch (Version 1.0.3.1) was released on April 30, 2024, adding a story dialogue toggle option — consistent with the developer's promise to continue small maintenance work. On April 29, 2026, the developer posted again to announce participation in the Tiny Cars Festival sale, and noted that "Gearshifters will receive a minor update a little later this year." This confirms the developer is still occasionally engaged, but is consistent with the previously stated position of no further major content — only minor maintenance. The DLC list contains only a soundtrack and wallpaper pack, both released on launch day. No new content has been announced or is pending. The game shipped as a complete product and the developer has clearly communicated that major content development has concluded.
