Glowing Stones: Heroes' Awakening is an adult visual novel currently in Early Access on Steam, built around a chapter-by-chapter release structure. The game launched on July 14, 2023, and has since shipped six major story chapters, with the most recent being Chapter 6 ("Calm Before the Storm") on June 18, 2025. The developer also addressed concerns from some players who feared the game had been abandoned, emphatically stating that development will continue "unless I die" — and expressing genuine excitement about completing the story and potentially extending it into future games. The developer, a solo creator, has been open throughout about personal health challenges including gout and related issues, which caused some delays and an earlier hospitalization. However, as of the July 2026 post, health is described as "somewhat unstable" but stable enough to keep working. A consistent cadence of monthly or near-monthly progress reports has been maintained, with regular updates on render counts, script lines, and animation progress — demonstrating that development is genuinely advancing. The developer has also taken practical steps to protect the project, including purchasing a backup GPU setup to ensure the render pipeline can continue without interruption if hardware fails.
