Evaluation
Go! Go! Nippon! originally launched on February 21, 2014, and received two major content expansions: Go! Go! Nippon! 2015 (October 16, 2015), which nearly doubled the story content and added HD graphics, and Go! Go! Nippon! 2016 (November 12, 2016), which added another 50% more content along with achievements and new locations. Both of these expansions are fully released.
The story doesn't end there, however. In October 2021, OVERDRIVE CEO bamboo made a live, public commitment during a VTuber stream to create a brand-new Go! Go! Nippon! game if the associated YouTube channel reached 10,000 subscribers, saying "I'll definitely create it" and "Seriously, I'll make it." Then in October 2022, an official developer post confirmed that OVERDRIVE's VTuber project was ending and stated explicitly that the social media channels "will be utilized for future updates to the Go! Go! Nippon! game franchise by MangaGamer and OVERDRIVE, as progress is slowly being made solely by OVERDRIVE CEO, bamboo."
This means a new installment was confirmed to be in active progress as of October 2022. However, since that announcement, there have been no further updates — no screenshots, no release window, no development logs — through June 28, 2026. That is over three years of silence following a concrete commitment. Given this extended gap with no communication, it is currently unclear whether the new game is still being developed or whether the project has stalled.
