Goofy Gorillas launched in December 2023 and underwent a major overhaul called "The Refurbishment" in June 2024, which effectively relaunched the game's core systems. Since then, the developer (sponge) has maintained an exceptionally consistent and prolific update cadence, shipping major content updates roughly every 1–3 months.
The major updates since the Refurbishment include: Dodgeballs & Juggernaut (July 3, 2024), Original Jungle Gym Returns (September 7, 2024), Spells, Secrets & Spooky Stuff (October 31, 2024), After Hours: Part II (November 9, 2024), It's Christmas / The Complex map (December 19, 2024), Team Deathmatch (February 21, 2025), Weapons Race (March 14, 2025), Prop Hunt (April 4, 2025), Locked and Loaded / Goofy Revolver (September 26, 2025), Apocalypse: Part 1 (December 20, 2025), and the Toybox & Shop system (May 15, 2026). That's 11 major updates in approximately 23 months, an average of roughly one every 2 months.
The most recent update on May 15, 2026 introduced a full in-game cosmetic economy with Bananas currency, a Toybox, and a Shop system — a significant structural addition suggesting the developer is building long-term engagement systems. We are currently about one month past that update, well within the established cadence window.
No developer statement about concluding development has been made, and no content warnings about planned-but-unshipped content are visible. The game continues to grow in both features and gamemodes (now at 10+ modes), and the introduction of an in-game economy suggests further monetization and content support is planned.

Take part in a number of action-packed gamemodes with your friends in a selection of different venues, all designed for varying types of gameplay! Craft your own experience by editing the gamemodes to the way you want them to be played!
Do you want to create an all-out brawl using only Dodgeballs, or maybe turn off all of the lights and play Infector in complete darkness? These are just some of the different ways you can alter the Goofy experience! There are endless ways to make Goofy more enjoyable for you and your friends!
Taking part in the gamemodes will earn you Goofy Points, which will increase your level, so you can show off your overall goofiness!
While there's no on-going action, you can take part in some small activities such as the Time Trial events, Four in a Row and the Gravity arcade game. There's also a wide range of achievements to be completed too, which includes some easter eggs!
Compete against your friends in select leaderboard events, such as the Time Trial personal best times, Gravity arcade high score and overall Goofy Points!
After playing and gaining levels, you can personalise your character with a large variety of unlockable cosmetic items so you can make your character be unique and represent you in the way you want!
You can unlock new hats, glasses, shirts, pants and different footwear, with some special items unlocked by completing easter eggs and achievements...
Want to make the experience more immersive? Goofy Gorillas uses positional proximity voice chat, which may or may not turn Goofy into a horror game at times...
But most importantly... don't hit each other too hard!
