Ground of Aces

Ground of Aces entered Steam Early Access on July 10, 2025, and Blindflug Studios has maintained a prolific and consistent development pace since launch. The game has shipped six major named updates since July 2025, roughly every 6–10 weeks: Major Update 2 "First Aid" (October 29, 2025), Major Update 3 "Warplans" (December 17, 2025), Major Update 4 "Maps & Liveries" (February 19, 2026), Major Update 5 "Bootcamp" (May 7, 2026), Major Update 6 "On Fire!" (July 20, 2026), and a smaller but significant update adding the community-created RAF Duxford map (August 19, 2026). This establishes one of the most active Early Access update cadences available on the platform. The most recent developer communication was on August 19, 2026, when the team shipped the RAF Duxford map update and simultaneously launched a second RAF Airfield Map Jam contest — inviting the community to recreate real WWII-era RAF airfields, with the winning map potentially being added to the game as an official map. Submissions closed September 6, 2026, with community voting to follow. This signals that at least one more official map is likely coming. The free "Wings of Valor" DLC continues to grow incrementally. As of Major Update 6 (July 20, 2026), the De Havilland Vampire was added. However, the May 7, 2026 update notes still list several items as planned but not yet delivered: a community-voted aircraft, a developer-selected aircraft, a digital artbook, and two legendary pilot NPCs. The developer has reiterated that Wings of Valor will transition from free to paid when the game reaches its 1.0 release. The studio shows no signs of financial distress and has maintained transparent, regular communication throughout the Early Access period.
