Gun Club VR launched into full 1.0 release on August 27, 2018 after a period in Early Access. Since then, the developer — The Binary Mill — has shipped three paid DLC packs: the SWAT DLC on July 6, 2021, the Wild West DLC on November 11, 2022 (alongside a major free overhaul called "GCVR Reloaded"), and most recently the Heavy Weapons DLC on July 29, 2026, which added a new map (The Freightyard), 11 new heavy weapons, three new game modes, and several quality-of-life features. This latest DLC release is significant: it breaks what previously appeared to be a multi-year silence and reestablishes the game as actively receiving content. The developer's note in the Heavy Weapons DLC announcement — "We know Steam players have been waiting a long while for this one and we thank you for your patience" — acknowledges the long gap but confirms the team has been working on content throughout that period. All three DLC are now released and no unreleased DLC are currently listed on the store. The developer has not announced specific future content. However, given the Heavy Weapons DLC only launched on July 29, 2026 (18 days ago), it is far too early to treat the game as finished. The historical pattern shows DLC releases spaced roughly 16–45 months apart, and the developer has a track record of continuing to expand the game over time.
