Evaluation
Gutwhale launched on April 6, 2020 as a small, self-described "finite" roguelite. Shortly after launch, the developer posted a roadmap on April 7, 2020 outlining plans for bug fixes, Steam achievements, and potential new content. However, on June 26, 2020, the developer published an explicit farewell post titled "Goodbye Gutwhale!" confirming that all work on the game had ended. The post states clearly that Gutwhale will receive no future updates on Steam, and explains why: the short development timeline resulted in difficult-to-maintain code, unresolvable Steamworks integration issues, and significant developer burnout. The developer was candid that planned features like Steam achievements could not be implemented. A follow-up post on July 27, 2020 announced the developer's next game, qomp, confirming the team had moved on entirely. The game is a complete, finished product as of June 26, 2020.

About this game
Gutwhale is a finite action roguelite.
Descend down into the guts, try to keep your ammo close, unlock weird hats and get crushed by a van!
While Gutwhales levels are randomly generated and can be played forever, the game has a definite ending that you can reach in 1 - 7 hours, depending on your experience with similar games!
In the beginning of March I had to stop going to work because of the Corona Virus and started the development of Gutwhale.
Since then two amazing developers have joined the project and we will release Gutwhale in the beginning of April!
We will post a short development logs on this page from time to time & hope that you will enjoy the game :)
