Evaluation

Heliopedia launched on October 12, 2021 as a compact, self-contained experience — the store description explicitly notes "2-3 hours of play time" and lists a finite set of features: 11 biome types, 100 encyclopedia entries, and a defined set of species and mechanics. This is consistent with Sokpop Collective's model of releasing small, complete games on a monthly subscription basis — the store page itself notes "Sokpop makes a new game every month!" indicating each title ships as a finished product rather than a live service. Following launch, the developer issued two bug-fix patches: v1.6 on October 18, 2021 and a macOS-specific fix on October 25, 2021. These addressed crash bugs and minor issues reported by players shortly after release. There have been no developer communications of any kind since October 25, 2021 — no content updates, no announcements, and no roadmap. No DLC has been listed on the store. The developer has not announced any plans for additional content. Given the game's design as a small, curated experience within Sokpop's rapid-release model, and the complete absence of any post-launch content signals, Heliopedia launched as a finished product. The bug fixes immediately after launch were routine post-release maintenance, not the beginning of a content development cycle.

Store description lists a fixed set of features and explicitly states '2-3 hours of play time', consistent with a small, complete product. Sokpop Collective is noted to release a new game every month, indicating each title ships as a finished package.

About this game

Heliopedia is a game about terraforming planets. Take control of your own solar system, and terraform planets however you see fit!

In the game, you use a faux-realistic chemistry system to find unique combinations and do discoveries. These discoveries are added to the Heliopedia: an in-game encyclopedia, that gives more information about each object. The game follows the story of a friendly sun in the middle of your universe, who gives you new items for the discoveries you make. If you feed it its favorite snack, like coal or ashes, it will spit out a new planet for you to terraform!

Will you create beautiful ocean planets, grass plains and rain forests? Or breed destruction with wildfires, volcanos and thunder storms?
