Evaluation

Her Lie I Tried To Believe launched on Steam on April 2, 2018 as a free short kinetic novel. The developer issued early bug-fix patches in the weeks following launch, then in January 2020 posted a script overhaul and announced plans for an Extended Edition. That Extended Edition — a separate paid game on its own Steam page — shipped on August 3, 2020, more than doubling the word count of the original story and adding new endings, characters, CGs, and music. The developer described this as the culmination of content they had been planning since launch. The accompanying soundtrack DLC was released alongside the base game on April 2, 2018, and its track list was updated in August 2020 to include four new pieces tied to the Extended Edition. There have been no developer communications since August 2020, no unreleased DLC on the store page, and no announcements of future content for this game. The last substantive developer post explicitly framed the Extended Edition as the completion of what they had wanted to add to the original story. The game launched as a finished product and received one meaningful round of post-launch content expansion; that work is now complete.
Evidence
Extended Edition released as a separate Steam game, fulfilling the January 2020 announcement. Soundtrack updated with four new tracks. Developer expressed gratitude and noted future projects would depend on support — no further content for this title was announced.

About this game

Disclaimer: This game contains disturbing subject matters, and might not be for everyone.

For reasons he doesn’t even know about, Tim has always felt hatred toward her. It could be because of her eyes. It could be because of her smile. Or it could simply be because she’s alive. The underlying causes can sometimes come from unexpected depths after all.

The only thing he knows for sure is that he saw her as a rival.

To defeat her. To humiliate her. To destroy her. For the first 16 years of his life, he drew breaths for those reasons alone.

But then… nothing. They eventually went their separate ways, as change is the inevitability that comes with those younger years.

Confronted with this sudden change, Tim had no other choice but to keep on moving forward, and finally adapted to a dull, productive lifestyle, forgetting even the fact that he once bore such animosity inside of him.

Until he met her again, that is.

Her Lie I Tried To Believe is a short kinetic novel about the persisting hatred of a boy throughout his life, the destructive relationship that was born from it, and the consequences he had to face as a direct result.
