Evaluation

Highrise City left Early Access on September 4, 2023 with its 1.2 full release. The developer explicitly stated at launch that this was not the end of development, and confirmed plans to continue adding content. Since the 1.0 launch, the game has received a consistent cadence of updates: the Metro & Planes paid DLC on December 21, 2023; a major Office Needs feature update on June 3, 2024; and the Vacation Season paid DLC on August 5, 2024. A Complete Edition bundle was released alongside the Vacation Season DLC. Across 2023 and 2024, the developer shipped major content roughly every 6–9 months. The most recent developer communication was on December 19, 2024, when Fourexo Entertainment posted an end-of-year update acknowledging they had been quieter than usual, but explicitly stating: "be assured this does not mean we're not working on something for Highrise City. The opposite is the case. However, this will require quite some time as it is huge effort we're taking and we're not yet sure if we can achieve what we want to." They promised an update "once the time has come." This post also shipped a small Christmas content drop with three new buildings and visual improvements. As of October 1, 2026, the last major DLC shipped on August 5, 2024, and the last developer communication was December 19, 2024 — roughly 9 months ago. The developer has not posted since December 2024, which is a notable silence. However, their December 2024 statement proactively warned that their next effort would "require quite some time" before they could share news, making this silence consistent with their own forewarning rather than an unexpected communications gap. The established cadence between major releases has been 6–12 months, and the developer's own words suggested their next update would come later than usual. Given this explicit communication, the silence through October 2026 is long but was anticipated by the developer. The developer has not announced that development is complete or winding down. Their last statement confirms active work on something substantial. The game continues to be purchasable with a healthy review count.
