Homeworld Remastered Collection

Homeworld Remastered Collection launched on February 25, 2015 as a remastered package of the classic Homeworld and Homeworld 2 games. It received steady post-launch attention in its early years: balance patches and modder tools in mid-2015, a major Update 2.0 in June 2016 that rewrote the formations system and rebalanced the entire game, and one notable piece of restored content — the long-lost Raider Retreat mission — in June 2015. After Update 2.0 in June 2016, developer activity dropped off significantly. The next substantial update didn't arrive until July 2023, when Update 2.300 introduced cross-platform multiplayer between Steam and the Epic Games Store. This was followed by two quick stability patches in August and November 2023, the last of which (Update 2.303, released November 13, 2023) removed the beta tag from the cross-platform multiplayer feature, signaling that the work was considered complete. The two DLC items in the store listing are both soundtrack releases from March 2015 and are fully released. There are no unreleased DLC entries. The store description does not reference any planned future content, seasonal systems, or ongoing roadmap. Since November 13, 2023, there have been no further developer communications of any kind. The cross-platform multiplayer work appears to have been the final chapter of active development — a self-contained effort to modernize the multiplayer infrastructure ahead of the Homeworld 3 launch window. With no outstanding commitments, no announced future content, and silence stretching well beyond any observable update cadence, the game reads as a complete product that has reached its natural end of support.
