I Wanna Be A Game Dev! launched on November 22, 2024 as a free-to-play visual novel RPG. The developer maintained an active post-launch update schedule, shipping multiple feature patches and side story content throughout 2025. On December 19, 2025, they released the expansion DLC and the complete soundtrack — both marking the conclusion of the base game's planned content arc. The expansion was explicitly described as the "finale" and "mysterious conclusion" to the main character Neku's story. No further DLC for this game has been announced or listed, and all DLC entries on the store are marked as released. Since December 2025, developer communications have shifted entirely to two separate projects: a sequel game to "I Wanna Be A Game Dev!" and a spin-off card game called "After School Duels." On July 9, 2026, the developer announced a Steam page and trailer for the sequel would arrive on December 19, 2026. On August 17, 2026, the latest studio update confirmed ongoing progress on the sequel's characters, music, and new character designs, as well as continued playtesting of After School Duels. These are distinct new products, not content additions to this game. The base game itself is complete.
