IMSCARED

IMSCARED originally released on Steam in February 2016. On October 12, 2022 — the game's 10th anniversary — the developer (Ivan Zanotti) shipped a significant 2022 Update, described as a remaster rebuilding the game in a newer engine. The developer noted this new foundation "can be easily updated" and mentioned it "kickstarts the development of mobile and console ports," signaling ongoing plans beyond the update itself. In a July 26, 2023 patch post, the developer added new language localizations and made a cryptic but clear statement directed at players who had "followed the rabbit in the streets" (an apparent ARG/community reference): "you already know we're not done with IMSCARED." This is a direct signal that additional content or a continuation was in the works. The developer also referenced a separate game project on their Patreon as the reason for their radio silence during that period. A final localization patch was posted on October 18, 2023, adding French and German translations. There have been no developer communications of any kind since that date — a gap running through June 2026. The developer's explicit statement in July 2023 that they are "not done with IMSCARED" constitutes an outstanding commitment, but more than two and a half years have passed since their last post with no update, no announcement, and no explanation for the silence. It is currently unclear whether the planned additional content is still actively in development.
