Evaluation
In Woods launched out of Early Access on August 19, 2024 with Version 1.0, adding a new map (Poisohell), 18 monsters, 3 characters, and 6 magic items. Since then, Vision Party has maintained a consistent update cadence across 43 total posts, including 2 major content updates and 12 feature patches. The most notable post-launch milestone was Version 2.0 on June 10, 2025, which introduced new monsters, a redesigned settings page, and other content improvements. Further feature patches followed in quick succession: Version 2.5 (August 3, 2025) added a data backup system and new language support; Version 2.6 (August 11, 2025) added a new artifact; Versions 2.7 and 2.8 (August 15 and 21, 2025) brought controller improvements and gameplay features; Version 2.9 (September 15, 2025) introduced Platinum Coins; and Version 2.10 (December 29, 2025) focused on performance optimization. The historical cadence between updates has been roughly every 1–3 months. As of today, October 1, 2026, the last developer communication was December 29, 2025 — approximately 9 months ago. This exceeds the established 1–3 month update cadence by a significant margin, and approaches or exceeds the 6-month silence ceiling. However, the most recent update (Version 2.10) was a maintenance-only performance patch, and the broader pattern shows no Tier 1 statement about development ending. Given that the gap since last communication now extends well beyond the historical cadence window, the active development signal becomes less certain, but there is no announced conclusion to development either. On balance, the sustained history of updates across more than a year post-launch still supports ongoing development, though the prolonged silence since December 29, 2025 warrants attention. No specific future content has been announced and no developer statement has declared development complete.
Evidence
Version 2.0 shipped with new monsters replacing some previous ones, a redesigned settings page, and new critical damage text effects — a substantial content and UI overhaul.
Version 1.0 launch: game left Early Access, adding a new map (Poisohell), 18 monsters, 3 characters, and 6 magic items.
