Internet Cafe Evolution launched on April 19, 2024 and has been continuously updated by its small indie development team (who work on the game alongside their day jobs) ever since.
The most recent major update, released on September 22, 2026, added a brand-new area — the West Urban District — along with a new internet café venue (Cyber Illusion Internet Café) and new decorative items. Notably, the developer explicitly stated in this update that the West Urban District was "unlocked to support adding more content in future updates," signaling that this area is intended as a foundation for continued development.
Prior to this, the developer shipped a string of updates through 2024 and 2025: feature patches adding sandbox mode, new game consoles, seasonal decorations, batch computer replacement tools, and AI improvements. A named update (Qixi Festival Update, v1.4.3) was posted on August 28, 2025.
In a September 2024 post, the developer stated directly: "The game will continue to be updated, and subsequent content is also being developed. I don't plan to sell DLC." All content is delivered through free updates. The developer has been open about their constraints — revenue hasn't fully covered 3D model outsourcing costs, and update pace depends on how busy their regular jobs are — but they have maintained a consistent update cadence regardless.
