Intravenous 2 launched on August 15, 2024 and received a substantial run of post-launch content from the solo developer at Explosive Squat Games. This included a Map Editor and Steam Workshop, a short 'Mercenarism' campaign, the Intravenous 1 Remaster DLC (released March 3, 2025), and the Version 1.4.0 anniversary update on August 7, 2025, which added one new narrative level and three new side-missions at no extra cost.
The developer had previously stated that Version 1.4.0 would be the last major content update before moving on to the next project. Since then, all subsequent patches have been maintenance and optimization updates — including a June 18, 2026 patch that explicitly backports a startup optimization from Intravenous 3 development rather than adding new content to Intravenous 2.
The developer's focus has fully shifted to Intravenous 3, which was revealed on April 3, 2026. By September 2026, the developer had announced and run a public playtest for "Intravenous 3: Borderline," a free standalone prologue, with the full game launching October 2, 2026. Both DLC items for Intravenous 2 are released, no unreleased DLC exists in the store listing, and no new content for Intravenous 2 has been announced. The game is content-complete as of the Version 1.4.0 update on August 7, 2025.
