Evaluation

Intrepid is a free-to-play sci-fi escape room game that launched on December 22, 2018. In the months following launch, the developer released several bug fix and feature patches addressing player feedback, and on March 6, 2019, added a Mac OS version — completing the game's availability across all three major platforms (Windows, Linux, and Mac OS). That March 2019 post represents both the last major content release and the last developer communication of any kind. The developer made clear from the outset that this was a self-contained passion project: a digital adaptation of a real-life escape room made for a birthday party, explicitly "never meant to earn any money." In February 2019, the entire game was released into the public domain and its source code was published on GitHub — a strong signal that active development had concluded. The developer also noted in a December 2018 post that future storytelling experiments would happen in other games, not Intrepid. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced future content, no ongoing update cadence, and no developer communications since March 2019. The game shipped as a complete, finite experience and the developer has since moved on. Anyone waiting for the "complete" version of Intrepid can play it today — all content has been available since March 6, 2019.
