Evaluation

Intruder has been in Early Access since March 1, 2019 and remains so — the Steam Early Access flag is still active, and Superboss Games has not announced a 1.0 release or any intention to conclude development. The developer has been consistently and actively shipping content. The Checkpoint map launched in beta on March 19, 2026, bringing two new gadgets (Quick Smoke and Surveillance Tablet) and a new asymmetric gameplay format. The April 2026 update expanded Checkpoint further and added another new experimental gadget (the Whoopee Cushion). Performance improvements, map layout changes, and bug fixes continued through August 2026, with the most recent communication on August 10, 2026. Most significantly, a June 25, 2026 developer post explicitly announced two maps in active development: **Riverside 2.0**, a visual remaster of one of the game's oldest maps, and **City**, a brand-new large-scale map set in a high-rise skyscraper with features like deployable parachutes, helicopter transport, and 500-meter sniper sightlines. The developer shared work-in-progress screenshots for Riverside 2.0 and described City's design concepts in detail, confirming both are being actively built. Beta testers on the Secret Base Alpha program have already tested early layouts of City. The developer also mentioned in the December 2025 update that they are recruiting 3D character artists and concept artists to help bring Intruder closer to 1.0, confirming significant development work remains ahead.
Evidence
Developer explicitly announced two maps in active development: Riverside 2.0 (remaster of a classic map) and City (brand-new map set in a high-rise skyscraper with parachutes, helicopters, and new potential weapons/gadgets). Screenshots for Riverside 2.0 shared; City described in detail with design goals and confirmed beta testing underway.

About this game

Intruder is a stealth multiplayer experience, inspired by the great single-player campaigns of Metal Gear Solid, SWAT 3, Deus Ex, and Splinter Cell. The goal is to bring aspects of these games into the gameplay of Intruder, and turn it into a team-based multiplayer shooter. Intruder allows for stealth, teamwork, tactics, and environmental interactions never seen before in a multiplayer game.

Team-Based Stealth Multiplayer
  • Lure enemies into motion detectors near explosive traps.
  • Watch enemy movement through live security cameras and alert your teammates using the hand radio.
  • Use real SWAT hand signals to communicate silently when enemies are nearby.
In Intruder, amazing stories and immersive gameplay come from the players’ actions to provide an experience you will never forget.

Immersive FPS Simulation
Experience an immersive FPS simulation in Intruder with gameplay mechanics of climbing the environment, crawling through vents, and swimming through the waters. Last but not least, experience realistic ballistics with windage and bullet drop in effect.

3D Audio
Communicate with your teammates using both the hand radio and proximity voice chat. But be careful, your enemies can also hear you speak if they are near! However, you can also use this to your advantage to deceive the enemy.

Key Features
  • Team-based stealth multiplayer: Guards vs. Intruders.
