Irony of Nightmare entered Steam Early Access on December 12, 2017 and has remained there ever since. The last and only patch for this game was posted on December 18, 2017 — just six days after launch — adding minor sound and event tweaks and fixing bugs. There have been no further updates, roadmap posts, or developer communications about this game since that date.
Steppe Hare Studio is still an active studio: they released House on the Hill in July 2020, launched Prognostic in Early Access in October 2021, and released The Inn-Sanity in Early Access in October 2024. However, all of their news posts on Irony of Nightmare's Steam page after December 2017 are announcements for those other games — none address this game's development status, future plans, or a planned 1.0 release.
The game remains purchasable and flagged as Early Access, meaning the developer has not formally abandoned or completed it.
