Evaluation
Island 359 graduated from Early Access to its full 1.0 release on February 26, 2018, with the addition of Survival Mode as the headline feature. Post-launch, the developer shipped one more feature update (Update 1.08 on July 11, 2018) that addressed bugs and added minor quality-of-life improvements. That was the last substantive update to the game's content.
The most important communication is a developer status post from July 16, 2024, in which the developer returned after a long absence to explain what is and is not planned going forward. The developer explicitly stated that adding "more content" — defined as more levels, weapons, or dinosaurs — is "not in scope" due to bandwidth limitations. The planned work described is purely technical: updating the game engine from Unreal 4.17 to 4.27 to improve stability, support modern VR headsets (Quest 2/3), and polish graphics. No new gameplay content is being developed.
There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced expansions, and no roadmap pointing to future content. The developer has been transparent that the game's content is complete; what remains is maintenance and compatibility work. The last content-adding update shipped on July 11, 2018, which is the most reasonable date to consider the game's content finalized.
Evidence
Developer explicitly stated that adding more content (levels, weapons, dinosaurs) is 'not in scope' due to bandwidth limitations. The planned update is limited to engine upgrade, stability fixes, modern headset support, and graphical polish — no new gameplay content.
Game graduated from Early Access to full 1.0 release with Survival Mode as the final major feature addition.
