Evaluation

Joyquarium launched on March 27, 2025 and received a consistent stream of updates through summer 2025. A major content expansion shipped on June 19, 2025, adding 48 new marine fish species, a new saltwater tank mechanic, corals, sea sands, and wallpapers. Earlier updates in May 2025 added new fish packs, aquatic plants, tanks, and driftwood. The store description explicitly states "144 fish species to collect (with more coming!)," signaling additional content beyond what is currently in the game. On November 26, 2025, the developer posted a Steam Awards message directly addressing the game's future: "Moving forward, we will continue to listen humbly to every fish-keeping enthusiast. Your voice will always guide us in iterating features, enriching content, and improving the experience." This is a clear developer commitment to continued updates. The last developer communication was on November 26, 2025 — nearly 10 months before today's date of September 24, 2026. The active update cadence from spring through summer 2025 established intervals of roughly 1–7 weeks between posts. At nearly 10 months of silence, this period is well beyond that historical cadence window. However, the developer's own November 2025 statement explicitly commits to ongoing content additions, and the store description still actively promises more fish species. Because the developer has made a forward-looking commitment to enriching content with no subsequent statement walking that back, the game is best assessed as still in a phase of ongoing content development — though the extended silence is worth noting. No content has been announced as specifically upcoming (no named DLC or dated update), so this reflects a sustained development pattern rather than a concrete future content promise.
